Moving Mouths Procedure

Hello,

I thought I would let you all know the process of how I make the mouths move in my project. Firstly I take the pictures from iStopmotion and export them as images (EDIT>EXPORT AS...>AS IMAGES) Then I place these pictures into a folder on my USB. I select the image and open it in photoshop. I then use the clone stamp tool and draw out the mouth of the LEGO character. I then use the paint brush tool and draw an oval to look like an open mouth. Depending on what I want my character to say I may put different shapes like circles or fat ovals or skinny ovals. I then save the image as a .psd or .png which ever one it automatically saves as. Hello, Friend 1

I have nearly completed the scene where she meets her first friend and her world becomes just a little more brighter. :) I didn't face any problems with this scene, I just had move more LEGO people around a bit more and re-arrange buildings too give the illusion that I had like 500 buildings. I made an idea just on the spot, I didn't have enough LEGO floor to make the pavement so I pretended that the pavement floated to connect so she would be able to walk. I decided that NY would be a magical place considering I'm using LEGO Harry Potter. :)

I finished this scene! The reason why the end isn't fully complete is because the next scene I will need to gradually zoom out and do my extreme shot. If it looks a bit weird I may have to re-film it in my own time. It took longer than usual to film, as I had to move more people and re-arrange buildings. I have a scene later on in the film I didn't know how to film. Its the scene, where I do an EXTREME zoom out and I make the girl look tiny. I asked Mr Andrews for any advice to film this he told me just to gradually zoom out and make the girl look a lot smaller than usual just by colouring some paper to make it look like the girl. I'll post some pictures later to show what I mean!

Problem - Images Stretching

I faced one big problem today. What had happened was once I photo shopped some of my images and placed them back into iStopMotion they appeared stretched. I asked assistance from Mr Andrews to try and fix it but it cannot be fixed. He suggested that at the end of the project we use an action in photoshop to make all the images stretched so it wouldn't look as weird. I hope that my project will still look good!

I've decided not to use these images as I think it will ruin my project.

Scenes 4 and 5

I missed the lesson before hand as I was sick. This hasn't affected my time management yet, but it may later on in the term. This lesson I completed scenes 4 and 5 and I will need to photoshop them so they are 100% complete. I faced one slight problem which was I couldn't make the way my main girl fall over look realistic. Mr Andrews suggested I use blu-tak and stick a bit onto the bottom of her foot and gradually push her over. This did help and made her fall look a lot more realistic. Here's how the scenes look:

Scenes, 1, 2 & 3 FINISHED!

Hello,

This week I have fully completed scenes 1, 2 and 3. I have done all the photoshopping I need to do and have imported all the frames into iStopmotion. So far my animation looks pretty smooth there aren't many definite jerky parts. I have overcome some small problems during this time and it has made my animation look great! I may have to do some further photoshopping and adjustments when I show Mr Andrews my animation.

Desaturating Images

In this lesson I desaturated some images from my stop motion. I haven't completed my full project (filming) but I would like to complete one scene. I didn't want to spend a lot of time desaturating my images one by one, so Mr Andrews showed me how to use an 'action' in photoshop to help me complete this task a lot quicker. I thought this was a handy way to desaturate my images as all I had to do was wait until it was complete. Here's how some images turned out:

What I plan to do with these images is to make their mouths move to show that they are talking to each other. I will use photoshop to do this.

Through the use of photoshop, I will make the characters in these images talk.
